VOTING TWICE DURING AN ELECTION IS ILLEGAL!

President Donald Trump has made a suggestion, twice to reporters that residents test their state's election system, by voting first, by-mail and afterward, go to the polls and try to vote in person, which is illegal.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson have said in no uncertain terms; a Michigan resident who votes twice will be prosecuted.

Michigan residents who attempt to vote twice will fail. Why? The state's qualified voter file; the qualified voter file, keeps records of everyone's registration. The qualified voter file will match up signatures with voter ID and the driver license database.

All absentee ballots are documented and after the receipt of a voters absentee ballot is verified, another ballot, in person cannot be cast. This system of checks and balances prevents it.

In the words of Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, "Let me be perfectly clear: voting twice is illegal, no matter who tells you to do it. The President's idea is a great one for people looking to go to jail. My office will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law anyone who intentionally flouts our election laws."

Vote Voiced recommends you read the portion of the Michigan Election Law, which speaks to voting twice for yourself. The section of the law which cover this question is: 168.727 Challenge; duty of election inspector; indiscriminate challenge; penalty. (http://legislature.mi.gov/doc.aspx?mcl-168-727)

My name is Donna Miller; I am the C.E.O. of Vote Voiced. I am also the Chair of Voter Engagement for the Western Wayne County Branch of the NAACP in Michigan. I believe in the power of our collective vote so much. I started a nonprofit dedicated to getting out the vote in Michigan and volunteer for the NAACP; Turnout 2020 and One Campaign for Michigan.

During this election year seek out volunteer opportunities with Turnout2020 or One Campaign for Michigan and your local branch of the NAACP. Become a poll worker, go to Mi.gov for more information. Visit the Western Wayne County Branch at Facebook.com/NAACPwesternwaynecounty/

Vote Voiced and being a member of the NAACP is the result of my belief in the power and importance of voting in America.

My hope is you will join me today and make voting your lifestyle. Remember to vote once on November 3rd, 2020. Thank you for voting.
